26-year-old Kvitova underwent surgery was attacked by vicious, which entered into her apartment to rob her in the guise of checking a utility meter. In a response to defence herself she struggled with him in bathroom, which led to a knife being placed against Kvitova’s throat.

“In my attempt to defend myself, I was badly injured on my left hand. I am shaken, but fortunate to be alive. The injury is severe and I will need to see specialists, but if you know anything about me, I am strong and I will fight this.”

After the incident she was admitted to a hospital in Brno, here doctors repaired tendons in all five digits of her left hand as well as nerves.
